Tonal Center
Founded in 2002, Tonal Center began with the idea that musicians from diverse backgrounds could work together in new ways, creating an exciting and innovative new ensemble. Introduced to one another through academic collaborations, the three members, Tiffany DuMouchelle, Adam Berkowitz, and Stephen Solook, could easily see that they shared unique musical interests and a passion for the performance of new repertoire. Their eagerness to perform and explore new musical ideas quickly merged into the formation of a musical trio.
Since their formation, Tonal Center has continued to grow in strength as a proponent of new music. Tonal Center is a unique ensemble, not only in its musical construction, but also in its belief that it is vitally important for artists of all types to work together. Tonal Center places great emphasis on young composers and performers working together, so that they can learn together and from one another.
